Minister Askhat Aymagambetov met with students of pedagogical universities of Almaty

On January 29, 2020, in Almaty, at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, the Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aymagambetov met with students of pedagogical universities to discuss the benefits of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On the status of a teacher».

Students of Abai KazNPU, al-Farabi KazNU, KazNWTTU and KazUIR&WL named after Ablai khan attended the event. The meeting was held in an open dialogue format.

Askhat Aymagambetov noted that recently two important documents have been adopted in our country: a new state program for the development of education and science for 2020-2025 and the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On the status of a teacher». The Minister spoke about the work of his department to improve the working conditions of teachers and improve the quality of education at all levels. According to the results of the new certification format, qualification categories were assigned to over 156 thousand teachers, which allowed them to make additional payments from 30 to 50%.

The minister explained the advantages of the updated content program, which teaches children to choose important information correctly and put their knowledge into practice.

Touching on the quality of teacher training, Askhat Aymagambetov said that threshold points for admission to higher schools are increasing. So, in 2019, for pedagogical specialties, the threshold score was 60, and this year an increase to 70 points is expected. The Minister also emphasized the importance of improving practical knowledge among future teachers and the development of dual education. He expressed support for the initiative of Abai KazNPU to conduct fourth-year students in schools during the school year.

In conclusion, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askhat Aymagambetov and the rector of Abai KazNPU, Takir Balykbayev, urged all students to work in schools.

Takir Balykbayev thanked the minister for this meeting. «A lot of work is being done by the state and the ministry to support and create the best conditions for teachers and students», he said.

After the speech, the minister answered all the questions of students of pedagogical universities of Almaty.
