Opening of the Volunteer Year

As part of the announcement by Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev that this year is the Year of Volunteers on February 21, 2020, the university hosted the grand opening of this action.

The event began with an exhibition of volunteer clubs, where activists of the «Accelerator of Good» project, units of the «League of Volunteers» NGO in the city of Almaty, clubs «Meyіrіm», «Zere», and the volunteer group «Shuak» took part.

The university rector Takir Balykbayev opened the event; he noted the work of these public organizations at the university and congratulated all those present on the opening of the Year of the Volunteer.

Then, akim of the Medeu district of Almaty Sultanbek Makezhanov made a congratulatory speech, who spoke about the close cooperation of the akimat with the university, and expressed great hope for students.

The Chairperson of the «League of Volunteers» NGO in Almaty Bagdat Anarbayeva and the Director of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, the main coordinator of the Republican Project «Accelerator of Good» Ainur Sabitova noted the importance of volunteering, encouraged young people to work hard and do charity with all their hearts.

Ernazar Erkebulan, a member of the «Accelerator of Good» volunteer project, announced the launch of the charity project «Kaiyrymdylyk Kerueni» and the youth`s readiness for active work. The event ended with a flash mob of volunteers.

I would like to note that within the framework of the project «Kaiyrymdylyk Kerueni», university volunteers will carry out charity events «Zhaksylyk Zhasauga Asygayyk», «Bizdin Zhenis», and «Jan Zhyluy». At the initiative of the Akimat of the Medeu District and the Medeu District Branch of the «Nur Otan» Party, volunteers will be involved in targeted assistance to war and labor veterans.
