On 24 February, 2016 in the framework of the Message of the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev "Kazakhstan in the new global reality: growth. Reforms. Development ", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chair of General Linguistics held traditional regional Olympiad "The best philologist - 2016". Director of the Institute of Philology, Doctor of Philological sciences, Professor B.A. Abdigaziuly opened  the olimpiad.

The competition involved teams:
1) "Zerde" ( I.Zhansugurov Zhetysu State University);
2) "Ai-Shinar" ( Suleyman Demirel University);

3) "Farabi" (al-Farabi KazNU);

4) "Aitumar" (Kazakh State Women`s Pedagogical University);
5) "Shanyrak" (Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University ).

The members of the jury were:
1.Zhanabekova Aiman  doctor of philological sciences, associate Professor;
2.Uderbayev Almas  candidate of philological sciences, associate professor;
3.Suyerkul Botakoz doctor of philological sciences., assistant professor.

Test of  knowledge of undergraduates consist from  4 stages:
1st round: the team answered questions about terminology.
2nd round: competition "Zhas galym zerdesі" (participants to disclose the essence of the specific master plan and build).
3rd round: "Tauelsizdik kezenі: Kazakh til bіlіmіndegі Zhana bagyttar" (Period of Independence: new directions in the Kazakh linguistics) (answers to questions about the new trends of current research in the field of linguistics).

4th round: competition for logical thinking "Bіlіmdіden shyққan soz - talaptyga bolsyn Kez" (undergraduates written texts modeled on a specific language style).

Grand Prize competitions, the Jury received the team "Ai-Shinar"  Suleyman Demirel University.

The guests expressed their gratitude to the staff of the Institute and the chair of General Linguistics.
