Abai KazNPU is in the group of 201-250 best universities of the world in QS Ranking

 

Abai KazNPU is in the group of 201-250 best universities in the world in the «QS World University Ranking by Subject-2021», the top three in the CIS in the subject «English language and literature» and the top four in the subject «Education». Al-Farabi KazNU, L. Gumilev ENU, Abai KazNPU and Satbayev University showed the best results among universities in our country in the above ranking.

 

On March 12, 2021, at the university there was held a meeting with Regional Director of QS for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sergey Khristolyubov. During the meeting Rector Takir Balykbayev spoke about the strategic directions of the university and its achievements in national and international rankings, and the increase in the quality of student enrollment in recent years: students with the «Altyn belgi» and with a college degree has increased by more than three times. The employment rate of university graduates is 95-97% - students of Abai KazNPU find a decent job in their specialty almost immediately after studying. They also noted the successful development of all areas of the university to achieve its strategic plans until 2025.

In turn Sergey Khristolyubov noted that over the past 10 years the number of Kazakh universities represented in the global ranking of QS WUR has increased from 5 to 10, as well as pointed out the positive dynamics of promotion and activity of Kazakh universities in the global institutional rankings. The participants of the meeting discussed the best results of Kazakhstan higher educational institutions in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021. The indicators of Kazakhstan universities in the global and subject rankings were presented as well as the analysis in the context of academic reputation, where the leading countries (Russia, USA, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan) voted for universities of Kazakhstan.

 

QS Regional Director Sergey Khristolyubov gave detailed information on the ranking of universities in the Developing Europe and Central Asia (EECA) cluster by its methodology and said that the English version of the website should be carefully developed to make the information available to international stakeholders (applicants, students, scientists, etc.). Regarding the scientometric indicators of the ranking, the Regional Director was advised to pay attention to the increase in the number of publications in journals included in Q1, Q2 and to the increase in international collaborative publications, because their normalized citation is almost three times higher than that of national collaborative publications.


The meeting was conducted in a businesslike, constructive manner, as a comprehensive analysis of the positioning of Kazakhstani universities in the global, regional and subject rankings was given; valuable recommendations for the promotion of universities on the world stage were voiced.
