Student clubs increase interest in science

Abai University is doing a lot of work to increase students` interest in their chosen specialty and scientific activities. So, in the group of the educational program «Chemistry» of the Institute of Natural Science and Geography, there is a research club «Miracles of Chemistry». It is led by teachers Zhaksibayeva Zhanar, Akhtaeva Marzhan and Uzakova Asem.

The purpose is to form students` attraction to the world of substances and chemical changes, to acquire the necessary practical skills in laboratory technology. Tasks - improving students` skills of safe and competent work with chemical reagents and substances; development of creative potential, communication skills, cognitive activity and independence; give students the opportunity to test their abilities. Expected results: the chemical knowledge and skills formed in the classes can be used by students in practical activities and everyday life, they will teach them to explain chemical phenomena occurring in nature and everyday life, and also increase the environmental culture among young people.

On the basis of this club, intellectual games are organized annually, festive evenings dedicated to the Chemist`s Day «Chemistry is an amazing world», various interesting chemical experiments are held, reminiscent of magic tricks, fun games and quizzes for the audience. These activities are of great importance for increasing students` interest in the subject and developing logical thinking, teaching independent search through creative approaches.
