Round Table «Modern Translation Studies: Theory, Methodology, Practice»

On May 5, 2022, at the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology a round table entitled «Modern Translation Studies: Theory, Methodology, Practice» was held in the online format.

The speakers were Russian scholars in translation studies and translation practitioners.

Professor of Oriental Philology and Translation Department, corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan A. Zhumabekova made the report «Scientific and methodical support of training of translators in Abai KazNPU». Professor of the theory and practice of translation at the university G. Kuldeeva spoke about the problems of training modern translators at the L.N. Gumilev ENU. The features of work under conditions of simultaneous interpretation were covered in the report of the senior teacher of KazSJU named after M.S.Narikbayev, acting interpreter-synchronist J. Sarmanova. A. Kali, an employee of the Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters, told about the activities of the republican «Association of Professional Translators and Interpretation Companies».

Students, masters and doctoral candidates of the translation departments of Abai KazNPU, L.N. Gumilev ENU, M.S. Narikbayev KazSJU participated in the round table.

All the presentations aroused keen interest among the listeners, many questions were posed to the speakers, useful information was received about the theoretical and methodological training and features of practical work of future translators of our country.
