Republican Debate Tournament

On October 29-31, 2022 in honor of the Republic Day the Republican Debate Tournament among students for the Cup of the Chairman of the Board-Rector of Abai KazNPU was held at Abai University. The theme was «New Kazakhstan: new stage, new direction». The aim is popularization of national holiday, realization of state youth policy, increasing of intellectual potential of youth, assistance to development of debate movement.

The University Rector Darkhan Bilyalov, Vice Rector for Social Development Shyngys Nurlanov, Director of «Alpha Academy» Education Academy Baknur Ziyabekov and Director of Channel 31 Kurmanbek Zhumagali and Director of Channel 31 Information Bureau Erzhan Zhunis, private entrepreneur Adil Abdirahman, TV presenter Bakgeldy Bayan took part in the event.

On the opening day of the tournament, the «Tanym Travel» project was implemented to introduce young debaters of the country to the history of Kazakhstan`s first university and the famous and sacred places of Almaty.

Darhan Bilyalov, thanking members of the participating teams, noted the importance of such events in student life and the role they play in the formation of personality. «Through debating tournaments it is necessary to pay attention to all-round development of cognitive, creative potential of our youth and formation of research skills. This tradition will continue in the future. We are always ready to support the steps that determine the future of our youth in the new Kazakhstan», the rector said.

Some 140 debaters from 25 universities in eight regions took part in the tournament. Winners were chosen in 11 categories, with special certificates and monetary awards for the first three places.

First place was taken by the «70%» faction consisting of Zonderbek Jazira (Al-Farabi KazNU) and Erkebulan Aripbay (Nazarbayev University, Astana). Second place went to the «Khan Tengri» faction of Suleyman Demirel University, comprising Orazgali Aset and Arynov Azamat. Third place - the «KN» faction of Al-Farabi KazNU, whose members were Kenbay Uzbekaliyev and Kulakhmet Nurdaulet.
