14.12.2022 Action Research - the basis for improving the professional practice of university teachers
On December 12, 2022 the Department of Pedagogy of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Abai KazNPU held a university-wide scientific-methodological seminar "Action Research" as the basis of professional self-improvement of university teacher`s practice.
The aim - to discuss the problems and opportunities to improve the research activity of university teachers on the basis of systematic integration of informal forms of research such as Action Research into the professional practice of the teaching staff. The event was held within the action research plan of the department within the grant project IRS AR 14872311 "Theory and Technology of Higher Education Teacher Research Activity Based on Integration of Informal Research Forms as Action Research".
The following persons participated in the seminar: Vice-Rector for Research, E.A. Buribayev, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology G.A. Abaeva, the head of the department, professor Sh.J. Kolumbayeva, teachers of KazNPU named after Abai, KazNWTTU, KUTI named after Sh.Esenov, teachers of Almaty schools, doctoral and master degree students.
The workshop moderator, research professor of Abai KazNPU A.E. Berikhanova focused on the importance of Action Research as a form of educational practice change, one of the mechanisms for the development of teachers` research activity and the basis for the formation of future teachers` research competencies.
On the basis of informative presentations of the speakers: trainer of level programmes, Corresponding Member of the IIA T.B. Kornilova, Associate Professor of St. Petersburg State University L.O. Sarsenbayeva, K.Baidildinova, Associate Professor J.K.Ibraimova, Senior teacher F.B. Asilbayeva, the nature and advantages of Action Research, the best world practices of its implementation, the experience in the system of NIS, integration of pedagogical theory into pedagogical practice and diagnostic methods of scientific research. Professors K.K.Zhampeisova, N.N.Khan and other participants in the workshop shared their valuable insights into the methodology and development of the fundamentals of teacher research development.
