Republican festival "Student zhane sakhna"

On April 21-22, 2023 in honor of the 95th anniversary of Abai University and in order to develop creative abilities of students, inculcate national and spiritual values in youth a Republican festival of student theatres "Student zhane sakhna" was held, which opened with a solemn parade of participants on the red carpet, which became a traditional symbol of film and theatre festivals. Theatre groups from universities in Almaty, Shymkent, Taraz and Uralsk were invited to this parade. All participants of the festival were greeted with smiles and applause of the audience.

The members of the festival jury also walked the red carpet and were introduced to the student theatres. The jury was comprised of Shyngys Nurlanov, pro-rector for social development of KazNPU named after Abay, actor of the Theatre for Children and Youth named after G. Musrepov, singer Erden Zhaksybek, actress of the same theatre Nurgul Mingatova, worker of the literary department of the Kazakh National Drama Theatre named after M.Auezov, writer and playwright Zhaksylyk Muratbek, Head of Music Education and Choreography Department of our University Zhanbolat Kusherbayev.

After the ceremony, a special master class on acting was held in order to create friendly relations between the theatre groups participating in the festival and improve their professional skills. The event, based on practical work, was led by theatre and film actor Nursultan Sydyk and the author of the "Sahna Tili" course, actor Nurlan Saginay. The interest of the participants was high, and the theatre companies were awarded certificates confirming their participation in the master class. The next day the festival continued with theatrical performances. The performances were staged at the Alatau Traditional Arts Theatre.

The following student theatres advanced to the finals: "Murager" from M.Utemisov West Kazakhstan University, "Orken" from M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, "Dulati Zhastary" from M.H.Dulati Taraz Regional University, "8848" from T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. Student theatre "Debut" of the Kazakh National Conservatory after Kurmangazy presented its brilliant performance. The brilliant performance was presented by the student theatre "Debut" of the Kazakh National Conservatory after Kurmangazy.

According to the rules of the festival the student theatre companies staged plays on the theme of social problems in the society. All productions were very interesting and touching for spectators. So, theatre "8848" (play "Yukym kelmeydi") took the III place, theatre "Dulati zhastary" (play "Kiyanat") took the II place. I place was awarded to "Orken" theatre with production "Kokserek: contemporary dramatization". Yersultan Mursgaliyev, an actor of Murager Theatre, won the nomination for the Best Male Image, Yelshibek Shugyla, an actress of Orken Theatre, won the nomination for the Best Female Role and Yerkebulan Zholdasov, the director of this theatre, won the nomination for the Best Director. The winners of the festival were awarded special diplomas by the Rector of Abai KazNPU D.N.Bilyalov, financial certificates and branded gifts of the university.

The republican festival of student theatres "Student zhane sakhnah" will continue next year. For its part, it gives creative young people the opportunity to gain great experience and professional skills.
