Meeting between the management of Abai University and representatives of Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk

Today, on May 11, 2023 the management of Abai University had a meeting with the representatives of Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk, Poland. The event was attended by the Rector of KazNPU named after Abai Darkhan Bilyalov and Rector of Pomeranian Academy Zbigniew Osadovsky, as well as vice-rectors of the two universities.

Cooperation between the two universities was discussed at the meeting. In particular, they discussed the possibility of exchanging students, implementing a double degree programme, and prospects for further development of cooperation, organization of joint projects and research, and development of academic mobility.

Darkhan Bilyalov noted the importance of cooperation in the field of education, science and culture. He stressed that such cooperation will help to enrich the educational programme of both universities and create conditions for improving students`experience and achievements.

The Rector of Abai University also noted that cooperation between Pomeranian Academy and Abai University will contribute to strengthening cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Poland. He hoped to continue fruitful cooperation in the future and to develop new initiatives and projects that will allow the universities to share their knowledge and experience in education and science.

Representatives of Pomeranian Academy expressed interest in cooperation with Abai University and hope for successful development of partnership in the future. In their turn, the representatives of Abai University reaffirmed the importance of strengthening ties between the two universities and expressed readiness to discuss concrete steps for their development.

Active cooperation between the universities has been ongoing since 2015. The key point of cooperation is academic mobility. During this time, some 55 students have been sent to study in Poland. Scholars from the Pomeranian Academy are annually invited to KazNPU named after Abay to give lectures. One of the cultural and educational initiatives of our university is to popularise the heritage of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abay. Thus, in 2019, the Abai Centre for Kazakh Culture and Science was opened at the Pomeranian Academy.

At the end of the meeting, the management of Abai University presented the guests with special gifts as a token of gratitude for the friendly and productive cooperation. The representatives of Polish University thanked the management of Abai University for the warm and productive meeting. They also expressed hope for further development of partnership between the two universities.
