Researchers at Abai University have developed an e-learning tool for geography teachers

In order to provide teaching and methodological support to geography teachers and improve their knowledge, young scientists and teaching staff of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography headed by Laiskhanov Shakhislam developed an electronic textbook "Geoinformation technologies and resources in geography education". The authors are Laiskhanov Shakhislam, Kaimuldinova Kulyash, Aliaskarov Duman, Usenov Nurbol and Isakov Erlan. The textbook was made within the framework of the scientific project "Development of methodological foundations for the application of digital geoinformation technologies in teaching geography of updated content (as an example of high school classes)", funded by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and presented with the approval of the Academic Council of the Abai KazNPU. The textbook provides subject teachers with information about more than 60 geographic information technologies and resources that can be used in teaching geography with updated content, familiarizes them with the features and possibilities of their use, and teaches them how to extract and work with the necessary data from international and domestic sources. In addition, they get acquainted with the methodological guidelines for using geo-information resources in some complex tasks presented in geography textbooks for grades 9,10,11 and can apply them in their work.
