12.09.2023 A flexible model of dual education in Kazakhstan
11 September 2023 The KAZDUAL project team has been working hard to implement the project. Last academic year, a pilot dual education programme on "Primary Education with ICT" was introduced in Abai KazNPU. The dual programme successfully passed ACQUIN accreditation and received expert recommendations on improving the model of dual programme implementation. The recommendations were taken into account in the development of the next pilot dual programme in the specialty "6B01705- Russian language and literature in schools with non-Russian language of instruction". ACQUIN`s recommendation to increase the number of partner staff was valuable and was taken into account by the developers of the new dual programme.
The project team is now focused on realising a flexible model of dual higher and vocational education. Therefore, three meetings were held on 11 September 2023 to discuss this.
The national project team met to discuss the flexible model of dual education in Kazakhstan based on the experience of pilot programmes in higher education institutions and colleges - project partners. The experience of the project participants in training workers and specialists through the implementation of dual education is unique and has proven its effectiveness at the international level.
Also on 11 September the national coordinator of the project Bayan Sapargalieva met with the external expert of the project Carlos Machado. The external project expert noted that the project is going well, the project objectives are being implemented, the developed flexible model of dual higher and vocational education will ensure a high percentage of employment of graduates, as they will fully meet the target requirements of the employer, and the pilot programmes should be as close as possible to the needs of partners.
The third online meeting of the Abai KazNPU project team was fruitful. They discussed plans for the near future, preparation for upcoming events within the project, and defined the range of tasks to be solved. The experience of using dual system of education in KazNPU already shows the advantages of this system compared to the traditional one, as our flexible model of dual higher and vocational education bridges the gap between theory and practice.
