Development of natural sciences and education within the framework of sustainable development goals

On November 30, 2023, the II International Youth Scientific Forum "Problems of development of natural sciences and education within the framework of sustainable development goals" was held in Abai KazNPU. The event was attended by geography teachers, university teaching staff, young scientists, doctoral and master`s students. The aim of the forum was to analyse the trends in the development of modern natural science and education in accordance with the ideas of sustainable development.

 

The main areas of work: Paradigms of natural science education and science; Climate change and sustainable development of regions; Sustainable environmental management and "green" technologies; Strategies and partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals. The issues discussed included natural sciences and modern education; global climate change and problems of sustainable development of regions; sustainable use of natural resources and efficiency of "green" technologies, as well as strategies and partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals.

 

The plenary session of the forum was addressed by Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalisation of Abai KazNPU Kulsarieva Aktolkyn and Director of the Institute of Natural Science and Geography Kaimuldinova Kulyash. Reports of foreign and domestic research scientists were discussed.

 

Thus, Professor of Surabaya University (Indonesia), Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Eko Hariyono, who made a presentation on "Cooperation in the field of education between Indonesia and Kazakhstan on climate change" and dwelt on the effectiveness of experience exchange between countries within the framework of the Asian Framework Programme for Teacher Training on Climate Change, suggested further improvement of the process of international exchange of experience in the future. In addition, he paid special attention to the implementation of the Asian Framework Programme for Teacher Training on Climate Change in Indonesia, peculiarities of the programme and teaching methodology. It was proposed to develop ties between Abay KazNPU and Surabaya University, which includes a number of activities: research cooperation in the framework of climate change education; public works programme on climate change; exchange of experience between students; inviting lecturers. Currently, such exchange of experience is intensively taking place between Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, India, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.

 

In addition, the plenary session on promoting SDGs was addressed by Professor of Okayama University Khalifatullo FIL`ARD (Japan); Programme Director of the Centre for Environmental Education on Climate Change, PhD Swetha Purohit (India); Programme Coordinator of the Centre for Environmental Education Priyanka Sinsinwar (India); Chairman of the Board of the National Centre for Advanced Training of JSC "Orleu" Elaman Aibuldinov, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies, PhD of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Hodja Ahmed Yassaui, and the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies, PhD of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Hodja Ahmed Yassaui. They shared their experience in analysing trends in the development of modern natural sciences and education in line with the ideas of sustainable development.

 

The plenary session was followed by presentations in the geography, chemistry and biology sections by research scientists from Indonesia, Turkey, Japan, India, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The International Forum had a positive impact on the exchange of knowledge and experience on the development of science and education within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.
