Meeting of the management of Abai University and the Department of Education of Almaty region

On March 13, 2024 a meeting of the management of Abai KazNPU and the Department of Education of Almaty region was held. The event was attended by Chairman of the Board-Rector Bolat Tlep, Head of the Almaty Region Education Department Saltanat Bespayeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Activities of the University Banu Narbekova, heads of departments responsible for academic issues and public relations.

Bolat Tlep, noting the importance of the meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between the parties, dwelt on the problem of teacher shortage, plans and initiatives of Abai University aimed at providing teaching staff for new schools in Almaty and Astana within the framework of the "Comfortable School" project, bridging the gap in rural and urban secondary education organisations, retraining and professional development of principals and deputy principals, teachers. As the rector emphasised, the main priority remains the achievement of results.

During the meeting, topical issues in the sphere of secondary education were discussed, within the framework of the project "Comfortable School" it was proposed to provide qualified specialists to 26 new schools of Almaty region, which will be put into operation in the new academic year, and to improve the quality of education of teachers of physics, mathematics and chemistry in 433 schools of the region, to increase the level of work of teachers with innovative programmes and digital technologies. The issues of experience exchange were also raised.

At the end of the meeting, a co-operation agreement was signed between Abai University and the Department of Education of Almaty region.
