SCIENTISTS EXPRESS VIEWS ABOUT THE LATIN АLPHABET

On 21 November, 2017 on the basis of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University held the general meeting of the Department of social sciences and humanities of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan , where issues of the transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet were discussed. Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Professor Takir Balykbayev noted the topicality of the theme.

President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Academician Murat Zhurinov noted that the translation of the Kazakh alphabet into Latin alphabet is one of the main tasks of the program article of the Head of State «Course towards the future: modernization of Kazakhstan`s identity» and also introduced with the works in this direction. In the main report of the director of A. Baitusynov Institute of Linguistics Corresponding Member of the NAS RK Yerden Kazhybek and in additional reports of the member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, chief scientist A. Baitusynov Institute of Linguistics U. Aitbayev, vice-rector of Abai KazNPU corresponding member of NAS RK G. Kenzhebayev were issues related to the history of Kazakh script, its change in the political context of each historical period, as well as the relevance of the reform of script in the Independence epoch.

Doctor of philological sciences Zeinep Bazarbayeva, doctor of psychological sciences, professor Kubugul Zharykbayev, doctor of philological sciences, Corresponding Member of NAS RK Fauziya Orazbayeva and others took part in the discussion.

At the general meeting of the  Department of social sciences and humanities of NAS RK was made a decision to support and implement the Latin alphabet.

At the meeting  was approved  the new staff of the Department of social sciences and humanities of NAS RK, which included 9 people: Chairman of the department - Takir Balykbayev, Deputy chairman - academician Kopzhasar Naribayev, Academic secretary of the department -  corresponding member of NAS RK Aktolkyn Kulsariyeva,  members: academicians Mambet Koigeldyiev, Bauyrzhan Baitanayev, Ualikhan Kalyzhanuly, corresponding members of NAS RK Gulnas Akhmetova, Bauyrzhan Zhakyp and Yerden Kazhybek.
