Abai KazNPU has improved its position in the global ranking: QS WUR 2025


On June 5, the results of the international university ranking QS WUR 2025 were published, which was attended by 1503 universities from 106 geographical locations. Abai KazNPU is in the top 700 best universities in the world, taking the position of 671-680, which is 10 points better than last year`s result.

 

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has maintained its leadership in the global ranking for the 13th year in a row. Imperial College London (ICL) rose to 2nd place, while the universities of Oxford and Harvard remained in 3rd and 4th places, respectively. The best «player» in the Asian higher education sector is Peking University, which took 14th place.

 

Kazakhstan is represented in the ranking by 21 universities, of which 5 have improved their positions. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University traditionally retains the championship and returns to the top 200, taking 163rd place. L.N. Gumilyov ENU remained in the top 400 while rising to 321st place. Satbayev University took the 405th line of the rating. Abai KazNPU improved his position by 10 points with a score of 671-680 and entered the top 5 in Kazakhstan.

 

Sergei Khristoliubov, regional director of QS, notes that the results of the new ranking are characterized by an increase in the positions of leading universities in Kazakhstan, and among the main tasks remain increasing the involvement of teachers and staff in scientific projects, further increasing the presence in scientific publications of high quartiles, and more active interaction with knowledge-intensive ecosystems and knowledge centers in the near and far abroad.

 

In general, Abai KazNPU demonstrates the desire for successful integration into the changing landscape of the global higher education sector and retains country leadership in teacher education.
