Workshop: Fundamentals of Writing a Master`s Thesis: From Idea to Defense


On October 4, 2024, the Department of Primary Education hosted a workshop for master`s students aimed at developing professional and research competencies. The event brought together 1st and 2nd-year master`s students. The participants exchanged experiences and enriched their knowledge of research activities in the field of pedagogy and primary education methodology.

 

The main theme of the workshop was writing a master`s thesis: from developing the idea to successfully defending it. During the event, key stages of thesis creation were presented, including finding a relevant topic, research methodology, and preparation for public defense. The speakers, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Primary Education Asel Akpaeva, and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Postdoctoral Fellow of the Department of Primary Education Adlet Kariev, elaborated on the requirements for the structure of a dissertation and the rules for conducting and formatting scientific research.

 

The practical part of the workshop included exercises on finding academic sources and discussing examples of master`s research. Participants actively engaged in the work, asking questions, and exchanging opinions on their research topics.

 

The event was organized by the Department of Primary Education and became an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience. The head of the department, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Aziya Zhumabaeva, noted the high level of organization and the practical value of the knowledge gained. The workshop was useful both for second-year master`s students, during their scientific-pedagogical practice, and for first-year students, who are at the stage of choosing their research topics.
