Literary and musical evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Berdibek Sokpakbayev

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Berdibek Sokpakbayev, a classic of Kazakh and children`s literature. In honour of the outstanding children`s writer, whose 100th anniversary is included in the UNESCO Calendar of Commemorative Dates, a complex programme "visit to the youth of a famous person" was prepared at Abai University, organized by the students of the 1st and 4th courses of the specialty "Russian language and literature in schools with non-Russian language of instruction".

Students with great enthusiasm were able to dramatize interesting moments of Berdibek Sokpakbaev`s story "My name is Kozha". Quiz questions on the author`s famous work were also prepared. The participants learnt that the work "My Name is Kozha" has been translated into 68 languages, written in Russian and the film based on the author`s script was awarded at the Cannes International Film Festival. To the surprise of the guests and participants of the evening, B. Sokpakbaev also informed about his studies at the Faculty of Philology of the Abai KazPI (Abai KazNPU).

Honoured guests of the event: Zhaksylyk Muratbek - playwright, winner of the prize "100 new faces of Kazakhstan", Alibek Baibol - children`s writer, member of the Writers` Union of Kazakhstan, the Department of Russian language and literature teacher. The guests shared with students interesting facts from the life of B. Sokpakbaev, answered the questions of the participants and offered them valuable advice.

In the creative part of the event programme, students sang patriotic songs, read poems from their own work.
