International scientific-practical conference «The image of independent Kazakhstan in the countries of the foreign East: trends and prospects»

On 8 June 2018 at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, was held International Scientific and Practical Conference «The image of independent Kazakhstan in the countries of the foreign East: trends and prospects».

The purpose of the conference is to determine the state and prospects of coverage of modern transformations of Kazakhstan in the countries of the foreign East in accordance with the project «Modern Kazakhstan culture in the global world», initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev in the program article «A glance at the future: the modernization of public consciousness».

The conference was attended by the rector Takir Balykbaev, first vice-rector Maktagali Bektemesov, vice Rector for Research and International Cooperation Aktolkyn Kulsarieva, vice-rector for educational and methodical work Gabit Kenzhebaev, head of the People`s Assembly of the Secretariat of Kazakhstan of Almaty Nazar Balgimbayev, director of the Egyptian Cultural Center at the Embassy of Egypt in Kazakhstan, attaché for culture and education Ibrahim Hemdan, head of the chair of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan of KazNPU Georgy Kahn, the head of the Department of Oriental Languages and Translation, Knyaz Mirzoev, renowned Orientalists, philologists, culturologists, political scientists, historians, representatives of public organizations of Kazakhstan and countries of the near and far abroad.

The moderators of the plenary session of the conference were the Director of the Institute of Philology and multilingual education Baltabay Abdigaziuly, Head of the Department of Oriental Languages and Translation Knyaz Mirzoev, Professor of Oriental Languages and Translation Aigul Zhumabekova, Head the International Relations Chair of Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute Zhomart Simtikov, Associate Professor of Oriental Languages and Translation Gulsim Abdrakhmanova.

At the opening of the conference rector Takir Balykbayev emphasized the importance of owning foreign languages. In particular, in connection with the strengthening of economic and cultural ties with the East, there has been an increased interest in Eastern languages in our country in the last decade. It is gratifying that interest in languages and cultures in Kazakhstan and the countries of the East is mutual, as evidenced by the problems of the conference.

At the plenary session of the conference were discussed the spiritual relations of Kazakhstan with the countries of the Middle East, the status of studying the Kazakh language in Turkey, the Kazakh-Azerbaijani language ties, the dissemination of spiritual values of Kazakhstan in the countries of the East, translation as the most important means of representing the image of Kazakhstan in the countries of the foreign East.

The conference was held in 4 sections:
- Linguistic and cultural aspects of Eastern philology and comparative linguistics;
- Translation as a means of intercultural dialogue between Kazakhstan and the countries of the foreign East;
- The socio-political and spiritual-moral aspects of the relationship between independent Kazakhstan and the countries of the foreign East;
- Intercultural and linguodidactic aspects of teaching foreign languages in Kazakhstan and countries of the foreign East.
