Charitable action «Honor to veterans!»

On the eve of 9 May, in support of the World War II participants, from April 30 to May 4, 2018, a charitable action «Honor to veterans!» was held.

The Public Council «Veterans Council of the Second World War», workers of the rear and children of war «of the city of Almaty organized the traditional action. The charity event was attended by students, volunteers of the club «Meyirim», under the direction of Gulbakhiro Shirinbaeva. During the action, distribution of food baskets to veterans of the Great Patriotic War was organized, including to the workers of the home front and children of war. The supermarket «Magnum» sponsored this event, providing financial support and forming grocery baskets.

During the action, about 50 volunteers of the club «Meyirim» congratulated 25 veterans, visiting 25 houses and apartments in different districts of Almaty. Students handed out grocery baskets from PF «Council of Veterans of the Second World War, workers of the rear and children of war» in Almaty, postcards and St. George ribbons as a symbol of Victory, and also expressed warm wishes and conversed with veterans about the military and post-war years.

The average age of veterans is 94 years. Despite their advanced age, many of them participate in the work of the Councils of War Veterans, conduct military patriotic work with young people.
