Reporting meeting of rector Takir Balykbayev

On 19 September, 2018, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 190 of 5 February, 2016, «Reporting meetings with the population of the heads of central executive bodies, akims, rectors of national higher educational institutions» were held reporting meeting with the population of the rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, professor Takir Balykbaev.

The event was attended by maslikhat deputies, representatives of the public of Almaty, the president of the National Academy of Sciences, the rectors of the universities and educational institutions of the city, the employees of the city and Medeu Akimats, members of the Nur Otan party, representatives of the mass media, employees of consular offices of foreign embassies, parents, teaching staff and students of the university.

In his report, Rector Takir Balykbaev summarized the results of the academic year 2017/2018, gave a detailed analysis of the educational, scientific, innovative, financial, economic and social-educational activities of the university, noted achievements and defined strategic objectives and directions for the development of the university.

As the rector of the university emphasized, «KazNPU activity is aimed at improving the training of teachers in the context of the updated content of secondary education and new requirements for the professional competence of the teacher».

The basic pedagogical university shows a positive dynamics in the recruitment of entrants. In the academic year 2018/2019, KazNPU enrolled 3708 students for the first year, including 1940 on the state grant. (compare with 2017: total - 2,589 people, state grant - 1,342 people). At the same time, the quality of the students of the university increases every year.

The demand for graduates on the labor market and the satisfaction with the quality of the training of young professionals are at a high level. Employers of alumni of Abai KazNPU are educational institutions not only in Almaty and Almaty region, but also in all regions of the republic.

Abai KazNPU annually improves his positions in world and national ratings. In 2017, the university entered the TOP-500 universities of the world for the first time, taking 491-th place in the ranking of QS World University Rankings. By results of 2018, Abai KazNPU strengthened his position among the best universities of the world and rose to 481-th place. In the special ranking of Emerging Europe & Central Asia among the top 200 universities in 30 countries of Europe and Central Asia, Abai KazNPU took 86th place (compare 91st place in 2017). According to the results of 2018, the University is on the 7th place in the National rating of the demand for higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the Institutional rating for «Education» among the best pedagogical universities - in the first place, 32 educational programs of pedagogical specialties entered the TOP-3 rating.

Among the strategic tasks of Abai KazNPU, in particular, Internationalization of the educational process was noted, which should lead to the creation of at least 15 joint two-diploma educational programs with foreign universities in pedagogical specialties, as well as improvement of positions in the ranking of QS World University Rankings to 450th place.

At the meeting guests were given the floor. The director of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies Akhan Bizhanov, the veteran of pedagogical work, the director of the multi-discipline gymnasium No. 159 named after I. Altynsarin Ayagul Mirazova, the honored worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the doctor of military sciences, the professor Kim Serikbayev, the professor of KazNU, the graduate of our University Talas Omarbekov and others took the floor with suggestions and wishes.

The participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the rector and get satisfactory answers. Those who did not have time to ask their questions, were asked to submit them in writing. Answers to them will be posted on the university`s website.
