France delegation visited Abai KazNPU

On 5 November, Abai KazNPU rector Takir Balykbayev hosted French delegation led by Deputy and Chairman of the France-Kazakhstan Friendship Group National Assembly of the French Republic Pierre Cabare, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France in Kazakhstan Philippe Martinet, Advisor to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the French Republic Gilles Arathoon, Consul General of the French Republic in Kazakhstan Alexis Chahtahtinsky, Economic Counselor of the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan Nicolas Studer, Chief of Protocol of the French Ambassador in Kazakhstan Raushan Ashimbayeva, Attache for university cooperation of the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan Gilles Mametz.

Prof.Takir Balykbayev welcomed delegation and delivered talks on a successful partnership between Abai KazNPU and French universities. Member of National Assembly Pierre Cabare also highlighted the contribution made by KazNPU to enhancing the collaboration between countries in education, science and culture.

In discussing partnership possibilities between universities of Kazakhstan and France, attendees of the meeting focused on key point of the discussion - development of Institute Sorbonne-Kazakhstan.

Mainly, there were discussed the possibility of undertaking the two-diploma programme of ISK with French universities, establishing Central-Asian Platform for Francophone Programmes and KazNPU Hub as a liaison body in partnership between Kazakh and French universities. In this regard, it is considered to plan the meeting of Kazakhstan and France HEI`s rectors in partnership with Kazakhstan Council of HEI`s Rectors within the Kazakh-French conference on security and digitalization.

Ambassador of France in Kazakhstan Philippe Martinet stated that currently perspectives for development of ISK have been identified at the education programmes to engage Central-Asian countries (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan), as well as promotion of Abai-Vern Scholarship Programmes.

In conclusion, Takir Balykbayev thanked honoured guests for the visit and contribution to Kazakh-French partnership development in education and science.
