The project «Ecological clubs»

From September 7 to December 7, 2018 in the schools of Medeu, Almaly, Auezov, Bostandyk districts of Almaty, timed to the 90th anniversary of Abai KazNPU a socially significant project «Ecological clubs» was realized. The project was organized on the basis of the university by the volunteer club «Meyrіm» and the republican public association «Posadi Derevo.kz» in the framework of the state order of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of Almaty.

The ecoproject is aimed at the dissemination of universal values ​​and the development of environmental awareness among schoolchildren and students.

The goal of the project was achieved through training in a specially designed program, including the following tasks:

- The study of biodiversity. Acquaintance of children with the interrelationships of plants, animals and humans existing in nature.

- The study of methods of saving natural resources. Development of the ability to assess the state of the natural environment, to make the right decisions to improve it.

- The development of a friendly attitude to nature. Building respect for natural resources through creativity and participation in environmental actions.

Stages of the project

Stage 1. Preparation for the launch of the project.

Since September 7, Work on the preparation of the launch of the project «Ecological clubs» was carried out. In addition, the work on launching the site of the project «Ecological clubs» in schools was carried out.

As part of this stage, a new design of handouts was developed in the form of instructions and booklets, breastplates in the form of the eco-club logo, which are planned to be issued to student coaches and finalist teams at the end of the project.

In the content of the instructions for the project «Ecological clubs», special attention is paid to the methodology of conducting classes, which differ from school ones and are conducted in a playful, interactive form, with a large number of practical experiences.

Stage 2. Teaching trainings for volunteer students.

From September 10 to 29, the stage of trainings from the representative of the RPA «Posadi Derevo.kz», Dauren Zholdasbayev and the head of the club «Meyirim» Gulbakhir Shirinbayeva began.

Four supervisors were appointed, among the students in the specialty «Social pedagogy and self-knowledge», who previously participated in the project «Ecological clubs», who oversee the training schedule and work with volunteer students.

Trainers for schoolchildren were volunteer students from the institutes of Pedagogy and Psychology, Natural Science and Geography, Philology and Multilingual Education of 1-3 courses.

Stage 3. Preparation of a set of didactic materials - eco-bag.

September 30, for student volunteers were prepared kits in the form of eco-bags, which are designed for the effective training of students and further use when working with participants of eco-clubs in schools.

 Stage 4. Issuance of certificates for student volunteers.

On October 1, at the end of training, the student trainers were awarded and certificates were issued to those who received training in the Ecological Clubs project on 4 main topics:

1. Water resources.

2. Waste management.

3. Biodiversity.

4. Personal hygiene.

When presenting certificates, students also drew lots to choose the schools with which they would work. The main attribute accompanying the presentation of certificates were sets in the form of eco-bags with the necessary details for working with school students.

Stage 5. Implementation of the project «Ecological clubs» in 120 schools of Medeu, Almaly, Auezov and Bostandyk districts of Almaty.

October 2, the stage of work with schools in Almaty has begun. For students, corporate service and centralized replenishment of the balance of Onay cards (!) From Almaty Transport Holding LLP were involved.

Volunteer students conducted environmental classes for students in grades 7-8 of secondary schools, including visual experiments, games, nature observation, and creative tasks.

Stage 6. Competition for the collection of electronic waste from the partner of the project PromTechnoResursKZ.

On October 15, as part of the implementation of the «Ecological Clubs» project, at the initiative of PromTechnoResourcesKZ LLP, a contest for collecting electronic waste was launched in schools, specially prepared containers for collecting electronic waste were placed on the school grounds. The prize fund of the competition (1 000 000 tenge) was distributed among the three classes of finalists.

From the partner of the Dodo Pizza project to all 5 eco-clubs of schools - the winners of the competition - were awarded pizza, as well as (as a bonus and further motivation) Dodo Pizza announced a discount (20%) for all participants of the Ecological Clubs project, which is valid until the end of the project.

Stage 7. Planting trees

From November 5 to November 17, before the onset of cold weather: the planting of trees with eco-clubs was carried out on the territory of their schools.

Stage 8. «Environmental Monitoring».

On November 19, a practical part of the project - environmental monitoring - took place in order to conduct comprehensive monitoring of the state of the environment and the level of its pollution. During the monitoring, student trainers conducted practical exercises in nature.

Stage 9. Testing for training students in schools - members of eco-clubs.

From November 26 to November 30, testing was conducted for pupils from schools in Almaty - members of eco-clubs.

Stage 10. Completion of the project «Ecological clubs».

On 1 December, following the results of testing students of eco-clubs, schools in Almaty, the teams-finalists of environmental clubs of 10 schools were identified:

- MPI «Lyceum School number 143»;

- Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics;

- Grammar school number 12 named. Sh. Ualihanov;

- Secondary boarding school № 17;

- KSU «School-gymnasium № 148»;

- MPI «Gymnasium № 4»;

- MPI «Gymnasium number 46»;

- MPI «Gymnasium number 105»;

- MPI «School Prestizh»;

- MPI «Secondary boarding school №17».

10 teams-finalists of the project «Ecological clubs» of Almaty schools of Medeu, Almaly, Auezov, Bostandyk districts will participate in the final competition «Eco-club in our life», which will be held on the basis of Abai KazNPU, on 8 December 2018.
