«Eriktі zhastar: Ar-Uzhdan dauysy» - «round table», dedicated to the «World Volunteer Day»

Modernization of the consciousness of Kazakhstanis is the main step in the process of adaptation of society to the changing global processes. On this basis, on December 6, 2018, a round table «Eriktі zhastar: Ar-Uzhdan dauysy» was organized at the university, within the framework of the «Ruhani zhangyru» program, by the volunteer club «Meyirіm».

Deputy Director for Educational Work of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Daulen Idrisov, Chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs of the University Didarbek Dildabek, head of chair of «Pre-school education and social pedagogy», associate Professor Ulbosyn Kiyakbayeva, head of the Meirim volunteer club, Gulbahir Shirinbayeva, club volunteers and students of Abai KazNPU participated In the round table.

The purpose of the event was the communication of volunteers and students, not yet covered by the volunteer movement, the exchange of information on the discussion of the deep meaning of the concept of «conscience» based on the key ideas of the program of moral and spiritual education «Self-knowledge».

Tasks of the «round table»:
1. Develop the ability to hear the «voice of conscience» as applied to the practice of purification of the mind and heart.
2. To contribute to the awareness of the value needs of volunteer work, based on the modernization of public consciousness.
3. To reveal the principle of unity of thought, word and deed in the organization of volunteer work.

In the discussion at the round table meeting, the following issues were addressed:
- What unites us?
- What does conscience awareness mean?
- «А man with a pure heart and a pure mind»?
- How does the «voice of conscience» motivate a person to self-knowledge?

Issues, voiced at the round table meeting, were the main mechanism for discussion, and during the discussion, the participants deeply realized the relevance of this topic. As an illustration of the report, video presentations of the presentation «Three Truths. Conscience of Shakarim», which provided for the extensive involvement of university students in the process of discussion. The issues and video are discussed using Edward de Bono`s Six Hats of Thinking. Group and creative work on this method allowed participants to draw objective conclusions and consider all informational, creative, emotional aspects.

Round table was based on the humanistic principle of the organizational experience of the Meirim Club, since the value reference point of volunteer work in society implies the modernization of public consciousness, and volunteering is a socially significant phenomenon.

At the meeting of the «round table» some results of the discussion were summed up. Recommendations were made unanimously on the need to conduct and enhance volunteer activities of university students in the framework of the implementation of the ideas of «Ruhani zhangyru», the main provisions of which define the universal values of the program «Self-knowledge».
