The Digital History Lab Team of Abai KazNPU Will Participate in the "Archive Hack: Smart Archive" Hackathon

On September 24-25, in Almaty, at Satbayev University (Satbayev Street, 22), the "Archive Hack: Smart Archive" hackathon will take place, organized by the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event will involve students, graduate students, and staff of the Digital History Lab at the Faculty of History of Abai KazNPU.

A hackathon is an event where teams of participants work on solving specific tasks within a limited time. The main goal of such meetings is to develop innovative solutions in a short time using the latest technologies and creative approaches.

The main objective of the hackathon is to engage students and schoolchildren in working with archival materials by creating innovative projects. Participants will develop solutions aimed at improving the digitalization, cataloging, and visualization of archival data. This also aims to popularize history among the youth, making it more accessible and interesting.

Participants will compete in three directions: Young Archivists Initiative, Designing Heritage, and Tech Solutions for Heritage - in the best nominations.

The jury will determine the winners in each category, and the total prize fund of the hackathon is 3,000,000 tenge. Educational grants are provided for schoolchildren.
