International round table on the topic
«Consonance of mentality: Abai and the Turkic world. Past and present»

 

On November 26, 2020, the Department of World History, the Institute of History and Law, together with the Museum of the Zhambyl Region, organized an online international round table on the topic « Consonance of mentality: Abai and the Turkic world. Past and present», dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh thinker Abai Kunanbayev.

 

The purpose of the round table is to introduce the creativity of Hakim Abai into the minds of the younger generation and demonstrate the worldwide relevance of the heritage of Great Abay.

 

Scientists from the countries of the Turkic world took part in the event to reveal the content of the topic of the round table. In particular, scientists of director of the research center "Hakim Abai" of Abai KazNPU, Head of the Tourism Department of the Akimat of Zhambyl Region Mailibaev Gani, Chairman of the Kazakh-Turkish Society for Education and Research in Turkey - Ertolkyn Gayretullah, scientists of the B. Jamgerchinov Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. Our university was represented by Sakhiev Sayabek, Vice-Rector for Research and Digitalization, and Shoyynbet Zhabal, Director of SRC Hakim Abai.

 

During the international round table, reports were made on the wisdom of Hakim Abay, on the role of the heritage of the great Abai in the culture of the entire Turkic world, on the place of the ideal personality of the great poet in the Turkic world. Professors, scientists and public figures from Kazakhstan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan widely discussed topical issues and shared ideas.

 

Over 100 students, masters and doctoral students of the Institute participated in this scientific event. Professors and scientists from the Department of World History, who shared their thoughts and conclusions, summarized the results of the meeting. There was a unanimous opinion that such meetings are very important for the development of world Abai studies.
