Meeting with Zhambyl-studying

On February 22, 2021, 1st year students of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education met with the writer Zhumabay Shashtayuly and the literary critic Beken Ibrai in the house-museum of the composer Nurgisa Tlendiyev in Almaty on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Zhambyl Zhabayev.

Yerlan Kasenov, Deputy Director for Educational Work at the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education, organized the event.

During the meeting, Professor Beken Ibrayim pointed out the peculiarities of Zhambyl`s poetry and shared information on its history. Zhumabay Shashtayuly`s story about the respectful relationship between Zhambyl and Nurgisa was very interesting to the students. The evening was concluded with the playing of kyuis and the composer`s famous song «Kustar». This meeting had a significant impact on the students`growing interest in art and music.
