Open Doors Day of the speciality «Psychology»

On February, 25, 2021, senior teacher of the educational program «Social Sciences (Psychology)» of Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Diana Ordagulova conducted online «Open Doors Day» of a speciality «Psychology» with the purpose to give career guidance to pupils of 10 and 11 classes of Almaty city schools.

The head of the educational programme «Social Sciences (Psychology)», Professor Akmaral Satova made a welcoming speech and underlined the relevance of the specialty «Psychology» in the fields of education, law, military affairs, health care, corporate governance, labour and employment. She also highlighted the peculiarities of teaching psychology at the university.

The high school students were given a multimedia presentation on the speciality, as well as an opportunity to get acquainted with the lecture-rooms and laboratories and evaluate the teaching environment.

During the meeting, in order to attract graduates to the profession, Bakyt Zhigitbekova, Senior Lecturer of Social Sciences (Psychology) Education Programme, talked about practical aspects of the profession. Alina Ibragimova, a 2nd year student of the Psychology specialty, made a presentation «The profession through the eyes of the student». Saulet Tukebayeva, Senior Lecturer of Educational Programme «Social Science (Psychology)» told about interesting moments in pedagogical practice of students, about bases of practice and answered the questions.

Senior Lecturer Bauyrzhan Zhankushkov, responsible for the career guidance of IPP, informed applicants of the admission rules to Abai KazNPU, with a list of required documents, application deadlines and entrance exams, the threshold points as well as provided detailed information on employment opportunities and answered applicants` questions.

The informal part of the event was complemented by concert numbers performed by students of the Psychology specialty.
