Abai University is the first pedagogical university of Kazakhstan included in the international THE Impact Ranking

Abai University has become the first pedagogical university of Kazakhstan that is included in the international rating Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking.

Times Higher Education published the results of THE Impact Ranking, which assesses universities in terms of their involvement in the achievement of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), approved by the UN General Assembly in 2015. At that time, the heads of different countries and public figures within the framework of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly approved new goals in the field of sustainable development aimed at protecting and increasing the well-being of the planet. Responding to global challenges, UNESCO calls for adherence to uniform rules that improve human life. Abai University supports these ideas and builds its scientific, educational and economic activities in accordance with the principles outlined in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Times Higher Education magazine first published the influencer rankings in 2019. To date, this is the only ranked list of the global activities of universities around the world in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, based on indicators provided by the universities themselves and Elsevier as a provider of bibliometric data. The overall THE University Impact Rankings includes 1,115 universities from 94 countries (including 7 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan). Abai University has taken a successful start, entering immediately into the 801-1000 group with 47.5 points.

Note that in the ranking of assessing the impact of universities on the implementation of the SDGs, Abai University took part in all the goals of the 17 SDGs and took the following positions:
SDG 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere: 401+ rank
SDG 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture: 301-400 rank
SDG 3 - Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages: 801+ rank
SDG 4 - Quality education. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all: 401-600 rank
SDG 5 - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls: 301-400 rank
SDG 6 - Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all: 301-400 rank
SDG 7 - Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all: 401+ rank

SDG 12 - Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns: 401+ rank
SDG 13 - Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts: 401+ rank
SDG 14 - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development: 301+ rank
SDG 15 - Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss: 301-400 rank
SDG 16 - Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels: 301-400 rank
SDG 17 - Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development: 801-1000 rank

Abai University has been honored in such ranking categories as «Promoting Peaceful Societies, Access to Justice and Accountability», «Quality Education», «Promote Sustained, Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth, Full and Productive Employment and Decent Work for All» and «Partnership for Sustainable Development».
