Course on the theory and methods of teaching history at the university for teaching staff, doctoral students and undergraduates

 

From January 24 to 28, 2022 Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, conducted 40-hour distance education course in the Kazakh language on «Theory and Methodology of History Teaching in Higher Education» for faculty, doctoral and masters students. 20 representatives of the Institute of History and Law took part in the coursework.


The lectures and practical sessions on the theory and methodology of history teaching in higher education were lectured by B.K. Abdugulova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of General History at the Institute of History and Law.


The participants became acquainted with the important normative legal documents, The participants have been acquainted with the content of history education, the content and structure of the theory and methodology of history teaching, Formation and development of history teaching methods in Kazakhstan, updated curricula and teaching materials active methods and methods of teaching, Innovative pedagogical technologies, with the organization of independent work, the state of vocational training in higher educational institutions abroad we looked at the features and methods of the updated content of history education; reviewed the structure of the textbook, we shared students` experiences with different historical documents and sources and work out tasks on the topic; received recommendations on the technology of selecting reflection methods and methods of working with modern types of lesson planning. Participants were highly interested in the activities of the textbook authors and the use of non-traditional teaching methods.


At the end of the course, participants commented on the positive psychological environment and the effectiveness of this theoretical and practical orientation of the training. They noted the high level of organization and information technology of the course, the use of diverse visuals and feedback during the lectures, the communication of participants` experiences using innovative methods, all of which contributed to strengthening their professional competence in this useful professional development course for all.
