Abai KazNPU Alumni Forum was held

An Alumni Forum was held at Abai University on April 29, 2022. The aim was to strengthen relations with alumni, enhance their participation in the development of Abai University, share experiences, and guide our students in the right direction of their future activities, primarily pedagogical. More than 50 alumni from all regions of Kazakhstan participated in the event.

The meeting was opened by Shyngys Nurlanov, Vice Rector for Social Development of Abai KazNPU. After reading the congratulations of the Rector Darhan Bilyalov, he spoke about the activities and role of the Association of Graduates, noting its importance in the development of the native university, and in strengthening the continuity of generations and the expansion of sharing experiences.

Toleubek Mukashev, president of the public organisation Alumni Association and chairman of the Association of Maslikhat Deputies of Kazakhstan, thanked the graduates. «As you know, the Association of Alumni of Abai KazNPU was established in 2018. We are now updating a list of more than 1,000 top graduates, identifying vacancies, phone numbers and email addresses to contact them. These graduates have been invited to meetings and major events, and we have provided them with feedback. A personal account of the Alumni Association and the University Sponsorship Fund was opened. Together with the coordinators, information has been compiled into an «Alumni Encyclopedia» series about alumni with achievements in various fields. To date, the encyclopedia has added more than 400 alumni, there is accurate information, and this search will continue. We are compiling an electronic list of graduates in the archive of the university. In the course of this work, a list of about 90,000 alumni has been compiled and will be supplemented in the future. Current alumni from our university and 5 professors and 2 alumni who are currently working at Abai University have provided assistance. Thanks to the alumni of previous years, scholarships were awarded to 9 freshmen and others received one-time assistance. The total amount of the scholarships is KZT1,145,000», said he, expressing confidence that the alumni will fully support the initiative and contribute to the development of their university.

All forum participants received a «Graduate Certificate». They had fun reminiscing about student life, thanking their teachers and exchanging opinions. Alumna Guzel Bekbayeva, young entrepreneur, director of PLATINUM TRAVEL KAZAKHSTAN LLP, thanked the university, its management and teachers, stressing that her success is linked to the education she received at the university.

Many suggestions and questions were addressed during the event. It was noted that maintaining close contact with alumni is a great achievement, and by establishing further contact with alumni, the university can be a major driving force in attracting applicants, training students, employing graduates, improving the social and material facilities of the university.

At the end, commemorative photos were taken. The forum participants could not hide their excitement about the next reunion.
