Round table «A child with autism in the modern educational space: challenges and opportunities»

On October 20, 2022 on the basis of NJSC «Abai KazNPU» held a national round table «A child with autism in the modern educational space: challenges and opportunities». The purpose of the event was to discuss the problems of autism in the country and in the world, exchange experiences of working with children with autism in Kazakhstan.

It was organized by the Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Abai KazNPU, G. A. Abayeva and the Head of the Department of «Special Pedagogy» A.N. Autayeva.

The participants discussed the following current issues: approaches of psychological and pedagogical support to children with autism spectrum disorders, training of specialists within the project «Development of support system for children with ASD», support to children with autism in the educational system in the RK from the experience of work on development of everyday vocabulary in children 6-8 years old with ASD.

The representatives of pedagogical universities of Kazakhstan (KazNWTTU, Pavlodar Pedagogical University, teachers, bachelors, masters and doctoral students), heads of «Rostok» ABA Centre, head of department for rehabilitation and introduction of new technologies took part in the debates. Director of the «Rehabilitation centre for children and teenagers with disabilities» private fund, the president of «Ashyk Alem» public fund, leaders and specialists of the «Center (aytism-center) supporting children with autism (autism spectrum disorder) EKR, as well as the coordinator of the project «Development of support system for children with ASD».

As a result of the round table, recommendations were adopted.
