05.04.2023 Festival "Nauryz" On April 3, 2023, the celebration of Nauryz was held at the Institute of Philology of Abai University among students who chose the Korean language. Students of the 1st and 2nd courses participated in the specialty "Teacher of the Oriental (Korean) language with knowledge of English" and "Two foreign languages".
The event was opened by welcoming speeches by the Vice-Rector for Strategy, Digitalization and International Cooperation - A.T.Kulsariyeva, Director of the Institute of Philology, Doctor of Philology - A.V.Tanzharykova, Director of the Korean Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kazakhstan - Mr. Kim Tae-hwan.
The concert began with gifts: from Abai University, A.T. Kulsariyeva presented the director of the Korean Center with a painting made by a university student. In turn, Mr. Kim presented a projector and prizes for the participants of the concert to the Korean cabinet. The festival in honor of "Nauryz" gave all participants and spectators a lot of positive emotions, wonderful memories and rallied students from different groups and specialties. The concert ended with congratulations and parting words from the head of the Chair of Eastern Philology and Translation, N.N. Konkabaeva.
The Korean language began to be taught at Abai University in 2021, and in these less than two years, 145 students chose Korean as their main or additional language. To participate in the concert, 13 applications were submitted and 12 teams consisting of one or more participants, in total - 34 students - performed at the student festival in honor of Nauryz. All performances were warmly supported by the audience, who filled the assembly hall and even prepared posters and other attributes to support the speakers. Students showed a magical dombra game, a beautiful Kazakh national dance, enchanting fan dances, modern K-pop dances, lyrical songs in Korean, a choir performance, and even played a performance from famous Korean dramas.
The jury of the concert was very hard to choose the best of the best! All teams were worthy of awards. In total, there were 5 awards at the concert: "Best Fan", "People`s Choice Award" (selected through QR voting) and 3 awards for the best performances and the Grand Prix. It is worth noting here that in honor of Nauryz, a drawing competition on the same topic was organized at the Chair of Oriental Philology and Translation. 1st and 2nd year students drew posters and even made installations. According to the results of voting among students, all participants were awarded prizes, and the three best works received valuable gifts.
