Scientific seminar on the activities of T.Zhurgenov

On April 7, 2023, in the framework of the Decade of Science of Abai KazNPU at the Institute of Philology, teachers of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation conducted a scientific seminar "Temirbek Zhurgenov - an outstanding state and public figure, translator, founder of translation studies and promoter of Kazakh Culture".

The event was attended by Maksutzhan Amanzhanuly, a researcher from the Department of History and Turkic Studies at the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics. A. Baitursynov, Kalampir Kazhgalieva - poet and translator, Shynar Abilda - associate professor, journalist and translator, Ergali Ziyakhanuly - scientist, as well as department faculty and students.

The invited guests of a seminar with fascination and informative informed the present about works of figures of Alash, which have laid foundations of translation in Kazakhstan, shared the interesting episodes from experience of work both in public, and professional activity. Expressing their views on the demand and role of the profession of a translator in modern society, on its difficulties and significance, they gave comprehensive answers to the questions of teachers and students.

At the end of the conference Head of the Department N.N. Konkabayeva thanked all the participants of the seminar and presented the guests with letters of appreciation and gifts from the Rector of our university.

The workshop was organised by the senior lecturer of the department, N.R.Shengelbaeva.
