Scientific and practical conference on the topic "Actual problems of the history of Atyrau region"

On April 7, 2023 within the Decade of Science the Institute of History and Law hosted an international scientific-theoretical conference "Actual problems of the history of Atyrau region". The event was held within the framework of the scientific project of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "History of the Atyrau region from ancient times to the present day". Scientists from Abai KazNPU, Atyrau State University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov and Atyrau region took part in the conference.

The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector for Strategy, Digitalisation and Internationalisation of Abai KazNPU, A.T. Kulsarieva. Considering the history of the regions in the scale of global historical trends, she stressed that the issue of studying this topic is one of the main tasks set before domestic historians. "I am confident that established partnership with Atyrau State University will only strengthen in future", she said. Rector of Atyrau State University named after H. Dosmukhamedov, Professor S.N. Idrisov, also noted that the prospects for development of scientific cooperation between the two universities are great, and wished great success to the conference, which addresses issues of history of Atyrau region. The Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh. Ualikhanov, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Z.E. Kabyldinov, Director of the Institute of History and Law of the University G. K. Kenzhebayev congratulated the attendees and expressed their sincere wishes.

Professor A. Muktar gave a detailed account of the archaeological study of Saraishyk, modern modernisation of the city, paying particular attention not only to the history of the region, but also to the national historiography and the history and culture of the region in modern times. The consequences of the Soviet reforms of the first half of the 20th century were reflected in the reports of Professors S. Sapanov, L. Berdigozhin and Sh. Nagimov. Foreign colleagues also joined the scientific gathering. In particular, Professor Gulnar Kara of Karateke University (Turkey) pointed out that Sarayshyk was frequently mentioned in the studies of Turkish scholars. Professor Kambarova Shoirakhon of Kokand State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan) used the Kazakh-Karakalpak connections to reveal relations of Atyrau region with neighboring countries in XVIII-XVIII centuries.

Scientists from our university also took an active part in the conference. Professor G.K. Khalidullin made a systematic analysis of the theoretical and methodological bases for the study of the North-Caspian region from ancient times to the 18th century, Professor H.A. Suteeva presented the examination of Chinese investments in Western Kazakhstan on the basis of modern studies. Reports of scientists E.Ermukanov, D.Salkynbek, E.Khaidarov, T.Mamirov, who shared the history of the region, the fate of individuals subjected to political repression in Western Kazakhstan, as well as valuable archaeological materials and original reflections aroused great interest. Young scholars E.Zhalmagambetov and K. Taspulatova also elaborated on the role of urban history in regionalisation and the achievements of Kazakhstani patriotism. As Professor B.S. Zhumagulov summarised, special attention was paid to the relevance of topics, aspects that have not yet been sufficiently explored, and he expressed his gratitude to all for their active participation in the conference.
