Minister Sayasat Nurbek presented the new rector to the staff of Abai University

On September 19, 2023, as part of his working trip to Almaty, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek met with the staff of Abai University and introduced the new Chairman of the Board-Rector of Abai KazNPU Bolat Tlep. This important event was attended by the university administration, members of the Academic Council, faculty members.

Sayasat Nurbek made a welcoming speech and spoke about the work done by the MSHE RK to date, shared news in the field of education and science. He emphasised the importance of state support for higher education institutions, scientific and pedagogical staff, as well as young scientists and students. This includes development of university infrastructure, improvement of material and technical base and provision of students with hostels to create comfortable conditions for both teachers and students.

The meeting discussed the issues of further improving the leadership of the university, increasing the competitiveness of teaching staff, application of artificial intelligence tools in the formation of their digital literacy and culture, transition to an advanced pedagogical research university and establishment of partnerships with leading universities in the world. The Minister emphasised the need to strengthen scientific ties and cooperation between universities and scientific institutes, which contributes to the development of scientific base and innovation potential of the country.

Congratulating the staff of the university on its 95th anniversary, Sayasat Nurbek expressed gratitude to the previous head, now Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of Kazakhstan Darkhan Bilyalov for his invaluable contribution to the development of the leading pedagogical university of the country. Sayasat Nurbek wished success to the new head of the first higher education institution of Kazakhstan in this position. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Bolat Tlep the university will continue its way to modernisation and achievement of high standards of education and scientific research, will give a new impetus to the development of the oldest higher education institution of the country.

B.A.Tlep defended his thesis at our university, worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of KazNPU named after Abay. He has sufficient experience in the socio-political and scientific spheres: he was an expert of the public foundation "Analytical Centre "Strategy", an employee of the Research Institute of Socio-Political Studies, a senior researcher of the Centre for Political Technologies. He worked in senior positions of the Department of Internal Policy, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Policy of Almaty, the Department of Internal Policy of Almaty. He has held senior positions in the Department of Internal Policy, Deputy Head of the Internal Policy Department of Almaty, Internal Policy Department of Astana. Astana, Astana Internal Policy Department, Administrative Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Previously, he worked as an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, worked at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia, was State Inspector of the Presidential Administration, Vice Minister of Information and Public Development, and Head of the Internal Policy Division of the Presidential Administration.

The Minister visited the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, where the current repair of the educational building was carried out, equipped with modern furniture, interactive panels, updated multimedia studios, classrooms and laboratories with all the necessary equipment and new technology. He examined the material and technical base of the institute and talked to teachers and students.

Sayasat Nurbek also expressed gratitude to the university staff for their valuable contribution to the development of higher education in the country.
