A city knowledge contest on Turkology 

The event was organized by employees of the Nemat Kelimbetov Center for Turkology at the "Abai LABS" Scientific and Innovation Park.

Seven teams of the specialty "Kazakh language and literature" in Almaty tested their knowledge in a three-stage intellectual and educational competition dedicated to the topics "Monuments of Turkic writing", "Modern Turkic languages" and "Works of Nemat Kelimbetov".

The quiz consisted of logical and cognitive, but very simple questions. The goal here is not to ask students difficult questions, but to foster patriotism by asking them easy, but literary and culturally important tasks.

The jury included famous scientists such as Sherubay Kurmanbayuly, Professor QyzPU Tynyshtyk Ermekova, Director of the Institute of Philology Alua Tanzharykova, head of the Center "Abai LABS" Zhazira Bitibaeva.

According to the results of the competition, the first place was taken by the Kultegin group, consisting of students of the Kazakh language and literature specialty of KazNPU.

The second place was taken by the Tumar team of the Kazakh National Women`s Pedagogical University under the leadership of senior lecturer Bagila Panzabek. The third place was shared by the team "Tonykok" of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (head: PhD Zhanat Sarsenbai) and the team "Altyn Orda" (head: PhD Almas Naimanbayev) from the Institute of Philology of KazNPU. The winners and participants were awarded with cash certificates and prizes at the expense of sponsors.

Recall that the knowledge contest was organized in memory of the scientist, famous writer Nemat Kelimbetov. A bright representative of Turkology was born on April 4, 1937 and died at the age of 73. For more than half of his life, the scientist, who suffered from a serious illness and showed a heroic example of the feat of the spirit, taught at an educational university named after Abai. He devoted his adult life to the study of ancient Turkic literature, and wrote his scientific works at this university. Scientific works of the scientist-writer "Yezhelgi dauir adebieti", "Turki halyktaryn yezhelgi adebi zhadigerlikteri" and works "Ulyma khat", "Umit uzgim kelmeidi", "Kunshildik", etc. are widely distributed among the population.
