Abai KazNPU celebrated its 90th anniversary

On 5 October, 2018, a solemn meeting devoted to the 90th anniversary of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University was held. It was attended by: the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gulshara Abdykalikova; members of parliament; representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan; diplomatic missions; National Academy of Sciences; rectors of the leading universities of the country; famous domestic and foreign scientists; over 200 foreign guests; heads, teaching staff and students of the university, as well as graduates of Abai KazNPU - Kazakhstan pop stars.

Opening the event, University Rector Takir Balykbayev welcomed the guests of the solemn meeting, congratulated those present on a significant date - the university`s 90th anniversary and gave the floor to G. Abdykalikova. The State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan read out to the participants of the solemn meeting and conveyed to the head of the university the Welcome letter of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation N.A. Nazarbayev congratulations on the anniversary of the university, in which, in particular, it was said:

«Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University - alma mater of the domestic system of higher education. Today it has become a leading educational institution, whose history begins with the opening in 1928 of the country`s only pedagogical faculty. Such prominent figures of the nation as Ahmet Baitursynov, Temirbek Zhurgenov, Khalel Dosmukhamedov, Saken Seyfullin made a valuable contribution to its formation. The university has 14 academicians, 155 doctors of science and 380 candidates of science who train in-demand specialists for the dynamic development of Kazakhstan».

A congratulatory address from the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sagadiyev was also read. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic Philip Martine made a congratulation.

In his speech, rector Takir Balykbayev emphasized the importance of the anniversary event and spoke about the achievements and high potential of Abai KazNPU, which is the leading scientific and educational center in the field of pedagogy in Kazakhstan: «The first institution of higher education in Kazakhstan, our university is a major scientific and educational center of the country..

Abai KazNPU annually improves its position among the best leading universities in the world. According to the 2018 QS World University Rankings, the university took the 481st place (in 2017 - 491st), and also the 86th place among the top 200 universities in 30 countries in Europe and Central Asia. Abai KazNPU is a generally recognized leader of pedagogical higher educational institutions of the republic. Currently, the university is successfully expanding international cooperation. It maintains scientific and academic ties with 130 universities in 25 countries around the world». 

The rector noted a number of events that were held within the framework of the anniversary with the participation of foreign partners of the university, and especially - an event of truly historical significance, timed to coincide with the celebration of the anniversary date - the conclusion of memorandums with 8 universities of France.

A documentary film on the history and achievements of the university was offered to the participants of the meeting. The solemn anniversary event ended with a festive concert with the participation of national pop stars - Medeu Arynbayev, Ramazan Stamgaziyev, Zhanar Aizhanova, Gulmira Akurpekova.
