Session of the Council of Rectors of RK «The quality of higher education is the basis of competitiveness»

On 4 October, 2018, on the eve of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, a meeting of the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held «The quality of higher education is the basis of competitiveness».

Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University organized the meeting.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vice-President of the Eurasian Association of Universities, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rector of Eurasian National University Yerlan Sydykov, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Almaty Region, Rector of Abai KazNPU Takir Balykbayev, members of the Council of Rectors of Kazakhstan, universities of Almaty, universities of Kazakhstan, countries of near and far abroad.

Addressing the rector of Abai KazNPU Takir Balykbayev with congratulations on the anniversary, the moderator of the meeting Yerlan Sydykov noted that for a long time the formation and development of Abai KazNPU has achieved great success in all areas of activity and has become a truly intellectual, spiritual, educational, scientific and cultural center life of Kazakhstan.

«I wish the university further development and strengthening of the status of one of the best universities in the country, expansion of international relations in all spheres of activity, preservation of the friendly atmosphere remembered by many and best students», said the Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Universities of Kazakhstan.

In his speech, Yerlan Sydykov focused on interdisciplinary training, which will be introduced in the educational process in all specialties, as well as to the fact that students now have the right to education in two ways: in-depth and further development of the disciplines.

The topic of innovations in higher education continued in the reports of the rector of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University Daria Kozhamzharova, rector of the Pomeranian Academy of Slupsk Zbignev Osadovsky (Poland), president of INALCO Manuel Frank (France), honorary rector of the Pedagogical University Hans Shahl (Austria).

At the meeting of the Council of Rectors, issues of preserving and enhancing the competitiveness of higher education in Kazakhstan and improving national models of continuing higher education in the CIS countries were discussed.

At the end of the meeting of the Council of Rectors, its participants congratulated the rector Takir Balykbayev and the staff of Abai KazNPU on the anniversary, and the rectors and representatives of foreign universities spoke with congratulations. They handed congratulatory addresses and valuable gifts from their universities. The meeting ended with a solemn ceremony of awarding jubilee awards in honor of the 90th anniversary of Abai KazNPU.
