Specialist of UNESCO Department

Main functional responsibilities of the structural unit:

- Provides propaganda of education for sustainable development and global citizenship;

- Promotes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to faculty and staff;

- Acts as a think tank and liaison between the academic world, civil society, local communities to disseminate knowledge and practices in an area that is a priority for both the institution and UNESCO.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Assist in the development of the UNESCO Chair work plan and its implementation in line with the NJC Abai University Development Strategy 2022-2025;

2) Assist in the development of the Sustainable Development Goals Action Plan and assist in monitoring the implementation of the Plan;

3) participate in the implementation of the results of research and development in accordance with the specialization of the department within the SDGs;

4) prepare necessary documentation for participation in competitions of scientific foundations and organizations for providing funding for research work;

5) assist in organizing and conducting scientific, scientific-methodological and scientific-practical seminars and other similar events on education for sustainable development (ESD), global citizenship, gender studies and other issues of UNESCO agenda;

6) to prepare necessary information for annual report on the results of Chair`s activity before UNESCO and National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7) to collect necessary package of documents for participation in UNESCO contests of research works;

8) to carry out communication with UNESCO and National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on education and projects;

9) To provide observance of rules of occupational safety and health, industrial sanitary and fire safety.

Required professional experience (duration, field, other)

The position of a specialist is assigned to a person with higher professional education

 

Professional competencies:

Basic knowledge of education system, international conventions, SDGs, UNESCO principles, intercultural competence and communication skills, business communication skills in English

Personal competencies and qualities:

Creativity, initiative, service-oriented, attentive, self-motivated, quick learner, ability to work in a team and independently, good organizational skills (planning and implementation), ability to work outside the working hours, ability to work friendly and effectively with colleagues and students, high performance and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, understanding the importance of communication skills and interaction, discipline

Language skills, including knowledge of state language (List of languages required)

Fluency in Kazakh, Russian, English at least B1

Computer skills:

advanced PC user
