On the activity of higher education institutions in the conditions of epidemiological situation

 

On June 12, 2020 on the initiative of the Council of Rectors of higher education institutions of Almaty region an online meeting with the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Almaty Zhandarbek Bekshin was held. The event was organized with the support of the Department of Public Development of Almaty. The agenda included the organization of the activity of the universities of the southern capital during the quarantine.

 

The Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Almaty region, Rector of Abai KazNPU Takir Balykbayev, opened the online meeting. He voiced a number of topical issues on the organization of universities` activities in the conditions of emergency and quarantine.

 

J.Bekshin gave a full explanation of the epidemiological situation in Almaty, as well as a brief forecast of the spread of coronavirus infection. Despite the termination of the state of emergency in Almaty, the threat of spreading the epidemic still exists. Nevertheless, the daily increase in morbidity in the city over the past 10 days has been 2%.

 

In this regard, the Chief Sanitary Doctor called on the first heads of higher educational institutions to strictly observe sanitary and epidemiological requirements, mask regime and social distancing. Recommendations were made on refraining from visiting places of mass accumulation and organizing cultural and mass events. When organizing the activities of higher education institutions, they regularly provide the educational buildings with a ventilation and air conditioning system.

 

In turn, the participants of the meeting raised the issues of summer holidays for students, the work of the admissions committee and holding the graduation ceremony.

 

Zhandarbek Bekshin, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Almaty, suggested that rectors of higher education institutions jointly develop an algorithm for further activities of higher education institutions in the epidemiological situation.
