Erasmus+ programme

Erasmus+ is a European Union programme aimed at promoting the modernization and sustainable development of education, vocational training, youth policy and sports. It provides financial opportunities for cooperation in all these areas, both between European countries (programme participants) and between European countries and partner countries around the world.

New cooperation and mobility projects are selected each year through the Erasmus+ Call for Proposals. Detailed funding information and a full list of opportunities supported by the programme can be found on the official website of the National Erasmus+ Programme Office in Kazakhstan.

Abai University cooperates within the Erasmus+ program with 10 universities:
1. Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (Slovak Republic);
2. Vytautas Magnus University (Republic of Lithuania);
3. Firat University (Republic of Turkey);
4. Mykolas Romeris University (Republic of Lithuania);
5. Adam Mickiewicz University (Republic of Poland);
6. Ahi Evran University (Republic of Turkiye);

"Orhun" exchange program


The exchange program "Orhun" is aimed at facilitating the exchange of students and teachers between member universities of the Union of Turkic Universities of the Turkic Council (TURKUNIB). At the beginning of 2023, Abai University became a member of this union and became a participant in the exchange program "Orhun". (

Students can study abroad for at least one, maximum two semesters. The duration of semester periods may be different, taking into account the differences in the educational systems of the participating countries, the exchange may be one semester;
Students do not pay tuition and do not incur any additional costs in favor of the host university, but they continue to pay tuition at the university from which they came (if they are students of a paid department);
The mobility period for the teaching staff can be at least two weeks and a maximum of three months during one academic year.

Conditions of participation in the exchange program "Orhun":
- average score (GPA) of at least 2.5 / 4.00;
- availability of a certificate confirming knowledge of English or Turkish;
- first and last year students cannot participate in this program

Required documents for participation in the exchange program "Orhun":

1. Student`s application;
2. Transcript;
3. The contract signed between the student and the university;
4. Other requirements (determined by the universities that signed the agreement).

500 Scientists Program

In order to transfer advanced scientific technologies, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his Address to the People of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan in a new reality: Time for action", instructed to provide an annual internship for 500 scientists in the world`s leading research centers.

The internship for scientists is aimed at improving the qualifications of scientific, scientific and technical personnel in leading foreign organizations of higher and postgraduate education, research centers and industry organizations.

Scientific internship is carried out within the framework of ongoing scientific research in accordance with the list of priority areas of scientific research for a period of 3 to 12 months in foreign organizations included in the list of leading foreign organizations of higher and postgraduate education, research centers and other organizations recommended for scientific internships.
