Round table «Problems of studying the ancient Turkic language and literature»

An international scientific round table on «Problems of studying the ancient Turkic language and literature» dedicated to the memory of the famous Turkic scientist Nemat Kelimbetov was held on December 15, 2020 at Abai KazNPU. The event was organised by the Kelimbetov Turkic Centre. Scientists from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey took part in the event organized by the N. Kelimbetov Turkic Studies Centre under Abai KazNPU. The issues of the ancient Turkic language and literature were discussed at the meeting.

The rector of Abai KazNPU, Takir Balykbayev, the Chairman of the RK Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms, the manager of the International Financial Centre «Astana» Kairat Kelimbetov, the president of the Turkish Linguistic Society Gürer Gülsevin opened the conference.

During the meeting a presentation of a new book «Peculiarities of Abay Language» by Sherubay Kurmanbayuly and Marlen Adilov, researchers of N. Kelimbetov Turkic Centre, was held. The book considers the linguistic peculiarities of Abay`s works that are absent in the modern Kazakh literary language or are rarely used, in terms of morphological, phonetic and lexical differences.

At the international conference lectures were made by well-known scientists-Turkologists Shakir Ibraev (L.N.Gumilyov ENU); Mehmet Olmez (Istanbul University); Tashpolot Sadykov (Bishkek State University); Temirkhan Tebogenov (Abai KazNPU); Zhurakulov (Kazakh National Pedagogical University). Abai KazNPU); Zhurakuziev Nodirbek (A. Navoi Tashkent State University); Elchin Ibragimov (National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan).
