Literary lounge «I discover Dostoevsky»


On March 3, 2021, the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education held an international literary meeting dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky.


This event was organized jointly with the publishing house «Almatykitap baspasy» and the specialized lyceum №165 in Almaty. The editor-in-chief of the publishing house Marina Asylbekova held the meeting. Employees of the writer`s museums were invited to the literary living room as speakers, and schoolchildren and students as listeners.

 

The evening began with an introductory speech by professor Saule Abisheva. The audience was greeted by Olga Mosheeva, a permanent participant in international meetings of the department, chief specialist-expert of the Consulate General of Russia in Almaty. Lyceum students of the 11th grade performed their «Word about Dostoevsky».

 

Marina Uvarova, researcher at the F.M. Dostoevsky in St. Petersburg told about the life of the writer based on the materials of the museum`s exposition. «Dostoevsky in Semipalatinsk» - this was the topic of conversation of Vladimir Solovieva, head of the exposition and exhibition sector of the F.M. Dostoevsky (Semey).

 

The meeting with the great writer became both informative and motivating for the young participants: it became clear to many that reading Dostoevsky is not only a difficult intellectual work, but also a path to spiritual growth.
