Results of the webinar «Development of an international scientific community in Fulbright program»


On April 9, 2021, within the framework of the MONTH OF SCIENCE was held an International Online Webinar «Development of an international scientific community in Fulbright program». The organizers of the International Webinar were: Postdoctoral researchers of Abai KazNPU.


The webinar was opened by the moderator Bayan Sapargaliyeva - Abai KazNPU postdoctoral researcher. The main speaker of the event was Bakhyt Alipova - the Alumni of the Visiting Scholar Fulbright Program, Professor of the Mathematical and Computer Modeling Department IITU, Visiting Professor of the University of Kentucky (USA). Bayan Sapargaliyeva, moderator, project coordinator from Abai KazNPU presented the webinar program.


Bakhyt Alipova presented information about the grant programs of the American Government, the Consulate for International Cultural Cooperation, and shared her experience in participating in grant programs for research (especially in the field of STEM). The speaker spoke about the application rules, the requirements for the applicant, the benefits of the program, follow-up reporting, stay in the United States, etc.


The webinar was dedicated to participation in the Fulbright Program, the process of obtaining and submitting an application, and the activities of the Fulbright Association of Kazakhstan.

 

The following questions were also revealed during the conversation:
- Who the program is intended for;
- What are Fulbright programs;
- Estimated number of Fulbright scholarships in the 2021-2022 academic year;
- What the program pays for.
- Are there age restrictions, etc.


There were around 40 participants at the webinar, representatives of universities in Kazakhstan, including: E.A. Buketov Karaganda University, S. Toraigyrov Pavlodar State University, Kazakh National Women`s Pedagogical University, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University, K. Satpayev Kazakh National Research Technical University, Kazakh State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Electrotechnical College in Semei and Abai KazNPU.


Questions and answers of the webinar participants were discussed at the session.


Participants were introduced to new opportunities to participate in international grant programs for research in the United States. The webinar was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the participants expressed their gratitude to the speakers and organizers for the interesting information.
