Intercollegiate quiz within the framework of Science Month

On April 12, 2021, at the Institute of Natural Science and Geography of Abai KazNPU within the framework of the «Month of Science», an interuniversity quiz on genetics and molecular biology was held remotely on the ZOOM platform for students, dedicated to the 30-year sovereignty of Kazakhstan and 115-year anniversary of Academician G.Biyashev.

This event is organized by the department of the educational program «Biology» of Abai KazNPU and the Department of «Molecular Biology» of the Kazakh-Russian Medical University. Students of Abai KazNPU, Kazakh-Russian Medical University and S. Asfendiyarov KazNMU took part in the quiz, 120 people in total.

The goal is to motivate students to study in-depth disciplines, to become educated and qualified specialists in the future. Currently, the place of genetics and molecular biology in the field of biology and medicine is very important. After all, the laws of genetics are universal, they are equally applicable to plants, animals, and humans, and are of great importance for their development.

The quiz had three stages: 1 task-solving tasks (40 points), 2-determining the scheme options (30 points), 3 - answering questions (30 points). The students showed a high level of knowledge on the tasks. In determining the average score of the overall results, Kazakh-Russian Medical University took first place; Abai KazNPU - second; S. Asfendiyarov KazNMU - third place. Prize-winning students were awarded valuable gifts.
