Current problems of teacher education

On May 21, 2021, at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University there was held a meeting of Educational-Methodical Association - Group of Pedagogical Science Project Management of Republican Educational-Methodical Council of MES RK.

Representatives of Kazakhstan higher educational institutions, Centre of social adaptation and professional rehabilitation of children and teenagers with mental and physical development disorders, National Scientific and Practical Centre for development of special and inclusive education, Almaty City Education Department took part in the plenary session online. There were discussed the actual issues about the changes in the Professional Standard «Teacher» on the direction of the training of teaching staff, about the newly developed cards of professions («Special teacher» and «Teacher-psychologist»), about the experience of the organization of educational practice in Abai KazNPU, about the problems of staff training in the direction «Pedagogy and Psychology», about the development of educational programme «Sign language and sign language interpretation».

Acting vice-rector for strategic development and internationalization of Abai KazNPU Aktolkyn Kulsarieva acted as the moderator of the meeting.

The reports were delivered by: Head of Preschool and Psychological-Pedagogical Training Department of Karaganda University named after Academician E.A. Buketova Natalia Mirza, Director of the Resource Advisory Centre on Inclusive Education for HEIs of RK at Abai KazNPU Zulfiya Movkebayeva, Director of the Academic Affairs Department of Abai KazNPU Khairolla Zhanbekov, Team Leader of the «Pedagogy and Psychology» Project at Abai KazNPU Aigerim Kosherbayeva, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology at Abai KazNPU Galia Abayeva.

Having heard the presentations and discussed the current problems of teacher education, the participants of the EMA REMC meeting exchanged their views. As a result, recommendations were made to higher education institutions in the Republic of Kazakhstan that provide training for teaching staff.

The plenary session was followed by the sectional meetings on the directions of preparation of the pedagogical staff of the Educational and Methodological Association - Project Management Unit (EMA-PMU), where the questions about new tasks, search of new methods, technologies in preparation of the future teachers of music, teachers/educators with subject specialization in general development (art education, graphics and design, basis of law and economy), teachers/educators in natural science subjects (mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology and geography), teachers/educators in humanitarian subjects (history), in pedagogy and psychology, special pedagogy were reviewed.
