Ecology of the planet: yesterday, today, tomorrow


On the eve of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan`s independence, on November 18, 2021, at the initiative of the Meyirim club, an educational hour was held at the Abai KazNPU on the topic «Ecology of the planet: yesterday, today, tomorrow». The relevance of the topic is disclosed on the basis of the experience of implementing the project «Environmental Clubs», organized by the club «Meyirim» in schools in Almaty.


The event was conducted by 2nd year students of the specialty 6B01801 - «Social pedagogy and self-knowledge» Kiyakbai Nazim, Izimgalieva Aruzhan, Sabitova Batima, Adilkhan Meir under the guidance of Ph.D., Associate Professor Shirinbaeva Gulbakhira.


The work on coordinating the training schedule with volunteer students was organized by 3rd-year students of the specialty 6B01801 - «Social pedagogy and self-knowledge» Zhakypbai Balzhan, Isagalieva Zarina, Musanova Aigerim, Zhezbayeva Gulkhanym, Ziyakhanova Ayaulym, Tleuzhan Altynai, who previously participated in the project «Environmental Clubs».


The state of the ecology of the planet in the theoretical and practical parts of the event was considered on the basis of the topics of the curriculum «Ecological Clubs»: 1) Water resources. 2) Waste recycling. 3) Biodiversity, 4) Eco trail. The theoretical part included tasks according to the program: teaching biodiversity; teaching methods of protecting natural resources; developing a sense of respect for nature. The practical part of the hour was organized in a specially created green circle «Question-answer». Students-volunteers paid special attention to the exchange of experience, games, methods of interactive lessons established in the program of the project «Environmental Clubs».

 

The participants were offered creative tasks with handouts, experiments on water resources management, waste management and biodiversity were demonstrated. The games «Snow throwing», «Garbage recycling», «Who is faster» were organized. Conducting group and creative work in the green circle allowed students to draw objective conclusions, to consider the environmental aspects of non-violence against the planet as a whole. To obtain feedback on the Eco Trace test method, a comprehensive conclusion and a comparative analysis of the state of climatic changes and the level of pollution of the planet`s ecology in the past, now and in the future were made.


In conclusion, based on the key issues identified in the event, recommendations were unanimously adopted on the need to activate students` volunteer activities within the framework of the idea of creating «Environmental Clubs» in schools.
