Abai KazNPU signed an Agreement of Cooperation with Okayama University

 

On January 21, 2022, an online signing ceremony of the Agreement of Cooperation between the Faculty of Education of Okayama University (Japan) and the Institute for Natural Sciences and Geography of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University took place.

 

It should be mentioned that the joint work of Abai KazNPU with the Okayama University Center for the Advancement of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) began in 2019, which was a project dedicated to develop teachers` competencies for Education for Sustainable Development. Our university has been participating in the «Promoting Teacher Education for Climate Change Education through Collaboration between Asian Centres of Excellence on Education for Sustainable Development» project since March 2021. The project involves representatives of universities from nine Asian countries, such as: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

 

Our team of scientists led by the Director of the Institute for Natural Sciences and Geography, Professor Kulyash Kaimuldinova, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, inspired by the joint work, contribute to the study of climate change issues, as well as the adjustment of education at both the secondary and higher levels.

 

Vice Rector for Strategy, Digitalization and Internationalization, Aktolkyn Kulsariyeva noted the importance of this project, as the world is now actively discussing the issue of global climate change. The parties signed the Agreement of Cooperation between our universities online, which will initiate a fruitful cooperation and will enable the exchange of students, teachers, as well as the implementation of joint educational programs.
