Young scientists of Abai University make a great contribution to the development of national science

Young talented scientists Abai University make a great contribution to the development of national science and education. One of them is 33 year-old postdoctoral researcher Shakhislam Laishanov. His career is an example for all students.

In 2009 he graduated with bachelor degree in the specialty «050116-Geography» of the Abai Kazakh national pedagogical university, and in 2011 graduated with master degree in the specialty «6M011600-Geography» at the Institute of Magistracy and PhD doctoral studies. Then, after completing his doctoral studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh national university with a degree in «6D060900-Geography», in 2017 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic «Degradation of agricultural landscapes in the South Kazakhstan region (on the example of the Otrar district)». The results of the dissertation research of the young scientist are used by the Department of Agriculture of the Otrar district of the Turkestan region in the work on the management, planning and design of the agricultural sector.

In 2017, Laiskhanov Shakhislam, in accordance with the decision of the Committee for Control in the Sphere of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, by order no. 987 dated June 29, 2017, received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the specialty «6D060900-Geography».

In 2014, he completed a 2-month internship at the Institute of geography of the University of Leipzig (Germany) and in 2015 - at the Dokuchaev Scientific research institute of soil science (Russia).

In 2014-2018, Laiskhanov Shakhislam Uzakbaevich worked at the U.U. Ospanov Kazakh Research Institute of soil science and agrochemistry and the Central Asian research center for ecology and the environment, where was a responsible executor of the several scientific projects implemented on the basis of the grant funding program for scientific research.

In 2015-2020, he worked as a teacher, senior lecturer, deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, head of the department at the Kazakh State Women`s Teacher Training University.

In 2019, he joined the Council of young scientists at the Ministry of Education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since then, together with young scientists, he has been engaged in public activities of national importance, including the development of proposals to amend the content of legislative documents, state programs, rules and other regulatory documents in the field of science of the country, the protection of the rights of young scientists, the promotion of science in society and the involvement of talented youth in science. Also, he is a member of the Association of young scientists and teachers of Kazakhstan and the World Kazakh Platform of young scientists.

Currently Shakhislam Laiskhanov is the head of 2 research projects funded by the Ministry of education and science: 1) AP09260017 «Research of the influence of soil salinity on the growth and development of corn in the Otrar region and the development of a space-based method for yield forecasting» (2021-2023 years); 2) AP09058590 Monitoring desertification and land degradation of Talas district of Jambyl region using remote sensing data and GIS for permanent land use (2021-2023 years). Also, he is carrying out research work in intra-university projects.

To date, more than 50 scientific papers of Shakhislam Uzakbaevich have been published, including: 11 articles in the journals of the list of the Committee for Quality Assurance of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the journal with an impact factor in the databases «Scopus» and «Web of Science» - 5 articles; the author of 1 copyright certificate, 1 act of implementation of the results of scientific research, 2 textbooks and 1 geographical atlas for school.

Laiskhanov Shakhislam is actively engaged in introducing young people to science. Under his consulting, students became winners of international and national competitions of students` research papers. Also, he is distinguished by initiative and a bright creative character. In recent years, he has organized many scientific events at the international and national levels.
